OSWER Technical Guide for Assessing and Mitigating the Vapor Intrusion Pathway From Subsurface Vapor Sources to Indoor Air

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response, OSWER Technical Guide for Assessing and Mitigating the Vapor Intrusion Pathway From Subsurface Vapor Sources to Indoor Air

This document comprises EPA’s ‘final’ vapor intrusion technical guide and it describes a recommended framework for assessing vapor intrusion that relies upon collecting and evaluating multiple lines of evidence to support risk management decisions. The document also provides technical recommendations about monitoring and terminating building mitigation systems. Dr. Odencrantz’s publications on passive diffusion devices for longer duration indoor air sampling are given as authority on page 92 in the USEPA Guidance Document. Notable quote from page 92 "Passive samplers are also capable of being deployed for longer durations than evacuated canisters, thereby providing a more economic means of obtaining average indoor air concentrations over longer periods of exposure."
